Kaya Kallas on the nuclear crisis with Iran: The deadline is running out

Macron will meet with his Iranian counterpart Massoud Pezeshkian

Time is running out and Iran must take concrete steps to avoid re-imposition of sanctions by the UN, said last night the head of European diplomacy Kaya Kallas, quoted by Reuters.

"Diplomacy has a chance. The deadline is running out and we will see what happens. We need to see some real action from the Iranian side," Kallas, who met with several European foreign ministers yesterday with Iran's top diplomat Abbas Araghchi, told reporters.

French President Emmanuel Macron said he would meet his Iranian counterpart Massoud Pezeshkian the day after the UN General Assembly session, Reuters reported.

"Either Iran will make a gesture and take the path of peace and stability by allowing the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to do its job, or sanctions will be reinstated," Macron said in a speech to the UN General Assembly.
