“Our meeting was crucial because we expressed our will to stop the massacres in Gaza. Mr. Trump stressed the need to stop the fighting and achieve lasting peace. We discussed possible ways to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and all of Palestine and we reached an agreement on this issue“, Erdogan told reporters, quoted by his office, BTA reports.
He added that the two-state solution represents the “formula for lasting peace in the region“ and stressed that “the current situation cannot continue“.
In addition, Erdogan noted that the participation of Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa in the UN General Assembly is of great importance for the global legitimacy of the new Syrian government.
