Germany welcomes US President Donald Trump's statement against a possible annexation of the West Bank by Israel, a Foreign Ministry spokesman in Berlin said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
"The possible annexation of the West Bank, but also the construction of settlements in East Jerusalem remain the main obstacles to achieving a two-state solution," the spokesman specified.
At the same time, Germany condemned the statement made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who accused NATO and European leaders of using Ukraine to declare a "real war" of Russia in a speech to the UN General Assembly.
"This is part of a well-known pattern, which shows that Russia clearly has no interest in reducing tensions around the conflict or in resolving it and seeking peace," the German Foreign Ministry spokesman added.
