US President Donald Trump has signaled that he is ready to allow Ukraine to use US weapons to strike Russian territory. This is reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing a senior US official and a representative of the Ukrainian authorities.

According to the publication, during their meeting on Tuesday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked Washington for more long-range missiles and the right to use them against targets in Russia. Trump responded that he "doesn't object to the idea," but made no specific commitments to lift the existing ban.

The Ukrainian delegation will travel to Washington next week for talks with the new US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegsett.

In an interview with Axios, Zelensky said he had raised the issue of long-range weapons with Trump and received assurances that the US "will work on it." According to WSJ sources, the discussion could also include the possible provision of Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of over 2,000 kilometers.
