German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that although his country is not currently experiencing a stage of active war, it is still not living in peace, Handelsblatt reported, Focus writes.

Given the increasingly frequent attacks on information networks and infrastructure, according to Merz, one can no longer talk about peace in Germany. “We are not in a state of war, but we are no longer living in peace,“ he said in his speech to entrepreneurs in Berlin.

Merz emphasizes that the threat is real. Although the Chancellor did not name the perpetrators of the incidents, he listed the entire spectrum of "hostile acts" that worry him.

"Drone flights, espionage, the murder in Tiergarten (the murder of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili in 2019), mass threats to individual public figures - not only in Germany, but also in many other European countries. Sabotage acts - every day. Attempts to paralyze data centers. Cyberattacks", Merz lists.

"I assume that here in the hall probably every second person has already suffered at least once from their data networks and infrastructure being attacked", the German Chancellor adds.

Yesterday it became known that the appearance of unknown drones in the northern part of Germany is being investigated. Specifically, several drones have been spotted over Schleswig-Holstein, and local authorities have launched an investigation.
