Beijing to Pyongyang: Our friendship built by older communist leaders is a valuable treasure

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi meets North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Song-hui

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told visiting North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Song-hui that maintaining, strengthening and developing bilateral relations has always been an unwavering strategic direction of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the Chinese government, Xinhua reported, quoted by BTA.

Wang also noted that the traditional friendship between Beijing and Pyongyang was built by older generations of leaders of the two communist parties and is a valuable treasure.

Earlier this month, Chinese President and General Secretary of the CCP Xi Jinping and North Korean leader and General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) Kim Jong-un had a historic meeting and reached an important consensus, Wang recalled. The Chinese foreign minister added that China and North Korea should implement the decisions of the two leaders, raise the level of their strategic communication, and consolidate their exchanges and cooperation.

China and North Korea are socialist countries with common ideals and goals, and should strengthen the exchange of experience in governance and administration and promote the development of their socialist causes, the Chinese foreign minister stressed.

Choe, for her part, said that the commemorative events in China on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II have clearly demonstrated China's historical achievements, comprehensive national strength and international status. The North Korean foreign minister added that Pyongyang is willing to deepen its cooperation with Beijing and elevate bilateral relations to a new higher level.
