The Islamist group “Hamas“ is currently considering “responsibly” the Gaza ceasefire plan drawn up by US President Donald Trump, said Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari, quoted by DPA, BTA reports.

Qatari and Egyptian mediators yesterday presented the document to the “Hamas“ negotiating delegation in the Qatari capital Doha.

“The delegation promised to examine the plan responsibly and that is exactly what is happening right now“, Al-Ansari said during a briefing.

A new meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday, which will bring together Qatari, Egyptian and Turkish diplomats along with the “Hamas“ delegation to discuss the plan and push for an end to the war.

“The plan was provided to them late in the evening and the meeting ended at around 11:30 p.m.“, the spokesman added, stressing that it was still too early to expect an official response from “Hamas“.

He noted that they were “optimistic about the plan, which is detailed and is still being studied by the delegation“. The goal, he said, is to end the tragic war, stop the killings in the Gaza Strip, stop the hunger and destruction, and make a new beginning for the lives of the region's residents.

Qatar has already expressed support for Donald Trump's plan, along with other Arab countries, including Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
