Two killed in Morocco in attempted assault on police station

The dead were involved in a group attack on a place where gendarmerie units were stationed

Two people were killed last night in Morocco in an attempted assault on a police station near the city of Agadir, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.

The dead were involved in a group attack on a place where gendarmerie units were stationed, the local news agency MAP said.

The attack is part of protests in Morocco demanding better education and healthcare.

Security forces "were forced to use their weapons in self-defense while they repelled the attackers," AFP explained.

The attackers aimed to seize ammunition, military equipment and service weapons, local authorities note.
