French President Emmanuel Macron called today on European countries to organize in "close cooperation" with NATO to "increase pressure" over the Russian shadow fleet, through which Russia exports its oil, bypassing Western sanctions, reported Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.
"It is extremely important to increase pressure on the shadow fleet, because this clearly reduces Russia's ability to finance its military efforts," he said at the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Copenhagen, citing as an example the stopping of a suspicious ship off the coast of France and the inspections carried out on board.
The drones that violated European airspace "can be destroyed", Macron was categorical after the series of drone incursions over Europe in recent weeks.
"It is very important to send a clear message. Drones that violate our territory pose a significant risk. They can be destroyed. Period", the French president said.
