Munich airport's two runways closed again due to drones

Pilot of cancelled plane tells passengers drones spotted again

The two runways at Munich airport in Germany were closed tonight for the second time in the past 24 hours, and the pilot of a plane whose takeoff was cancelled told passengers that drones had been spotted again, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

The pilot of the plane, which was supposed to fly to London, added that police helicopters had been raised in the air, but it was not yet clear whether the plane would take off tonight.

A spokesman for airport police confirmed that both runways were closed, but did not specify the reason for this.

The airport was closed for the first time last night after drones were spotted flying in its area drones. Work resumed early this morning, but 17 flights were previously canceled.
