Two people were killed and five others were injured in a shooting in the Moulins district, located near the airport, in the western part of the French city of Nice, the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture said.
„A shooting occurred this evening in the Moulins district of Nice. Two people were killed and two others are in serious condition. Three were slightly injured. Law enforcement and rescue services are working at the scene,“ the prefecture said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.
The prefecture added that Interior Minister Bruno Retailod had ordered additional police units to be deployed in the area to ensure order.
According to Nice Matin, a man opened fire with a “Kalashnikov“ after getting out of a car in which he was travelling as a passenger. It is believed that the incident may have been related to drug dealing.
