Most countries continue to voluntarily increase military spending in preparation for wars and conflicts, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said.

“When you raise it (the percentage of GDP spent on military spending) to 5%, and the average is 2.1%, that's a huge amount of money.“ “This means that everyone is preparing for conflict and war,” Vucic was quoted as saying by RTV.

He noted that Serbia would like to avoid this, but due to the unwillingness to listen and the extensive preparations for war, discussing other topics has become difficult. At the June NATO summit in The Hague, a decision was made to increase the military spending of European countries to 5% of GDP by 2035. Of this, 3.5% will be allocated directly for military spending, and the remaining 1.5% will be used to build infrastructure that can be used in wartime.
