Earthquake of magnitude 6 on the Richter scale recorded in Kyrgyzstan

According to preliminary information, there are no reports of casualties or damage

An earthquake of magnitude 6 on the Richter scale has been recorded in Kyrgyzstan, the country's Ministry of Emergency Situations announced.

„An earthquake of magnitude 6 has been recorded in Kyrgyzstan. On October 6, 2025, according to preliminary information from the Kyrgyz Institute of Seismology, at 2:29 a.m. (11:29 p.m. Bulgarian time on Sunday), an earthquake of magnitude 6 on the MSK-64 scale was recorded in the Kyrgyz Republic. "According to preliminary information, there are no reports of casualties or damage," the health ministry said on its Facebook page.

According to the report, tremors of varying intensity were felt in villages in Jalal-Abad region and in Talas, the administrative center of Talas region.

The ministry reminded residents of the republic to carry "emergency supplies" for three days. These include water, food, warm clothes, medicines, a flashlight and a whistle. It is also advisable to include copies of documents and money.

Earlier, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 in Kyrgyzstan. According to the local Ministry of Emergency Situations, tremors from this earthquake were also felt in Kazakhstan, with its magnitude estimated at 5.9.
