US President Donald Trump said that Swedish activist Greta Thunberg is no longer working for the environment.
“She is no longer working for the environment. She has anger management problems. I think she needs to see a doctor“, Trump said on October 6 during a meeting with reporters at the White House. He commented on the issue of Thunberg's deportation from Israel, calling her “angry and crazy“.
Earlier, the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced the deportation of 171 activists from the Sumud flotilla (which means “perseverance“ in Arabic), including Thunberg, to Greece and Slovakia. The Israeli Foreign Ministry noted that “all legal rights of the participants in this PR stunt were fully respected”.
The Sumud flotilla, consisting of more than 40 ships belonging to various countries, set sail from Tunisia for Gaza in mid-September. The participants in the mission claimed that its goal was to break the blockade of the Gaza Strip and deliver humanitarian aid to the enclave.
The Israeli authorities have repeatedly stated that they consider the actions of the activists a provocation and will not allow their ships to approach the Gaza coast. In the end, the flotilla was intercepted by Israeli navy ships, and all the activists - more than 400 people - were detained and brought to the Israeli coast.
