Erdogan arrives in Azerbaijan for Turkic States summit

Leaders discuss regional peace, security and strengthening cooperation within the organization

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Azerbaijan today to participate in the 12th summit of the Organization of Turkic States, which will be held in the northern city of Gabala at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. This was announced on the X platform by the head of the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidency, Burhanettin Duran, BTA reports.

The meeting, which will be held under the motto “Regional Peace and Security“, will discuss activities to strengthen the institutional structure of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and to enhance cooperation between member states, Duran said.

President Erdogan will participate in the meeting of the heads of state of the member states and will hold separate talks with the participating heads of state and government, the publication also notes.

Members of the Organization of Turkic States are Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, while Turkmenistan, Hungary and the so-called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) - recognized only by Ankara - have the status of observer countries.
