The Palestinian movement Hamas confirmed that a ceasefire agreement has been reached in the Gaza Strip.
“Hamas held serious and responsible negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh, after which it is ready to announce an agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip“, said the statement published on the radicals' Telegram channel. They thanked Egypt, Qatar and Turkey for their efforts as mediators in the indirect consultations and expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for “working for the ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza“.
The movement said that the document provides for the withdrawal of Israeli troops, the flow of humanitarian aid to the enclave and the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners. In this regard, Hamas appealed to US President Donald Trump, the guarantor states of the agreement, as well as the Arab and Islamic countries, to demand that Israel fulfill all its obligations under the deal and avoid delays.
“We ask President Trump, the guarantor states of the agreement, as well as the Arab and Islamic countries, to oblige the Israeli side to fulfill all its obligations under the agreement and prevent delays in this matter“, the statement said.
The movement confirmed that it will not give up the rights of the Palestinian people, including the right “to freedom, independence and self-determination“.
“We reaffirm that the sacrifices of our people will not be in vain and that we will remain true to our promise and will not give up the national rights of our people, including freedom, independence and the right to self-determination“, it said in the statement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu considers the agreement to release the hostages held in the Gaza Strip a “moral victory“ for his country.
“With the approval of the first phase of the plan, all our hostages will return home. This is a diplomatic success and a national and moral victory for the State of Israel“, he wrote in X.
“I have made it clear from the beginning: we will not stop until all our hostages are returned and all our goals are achieved. Thanks to the unwavering determination, powerful military action and tremendous efforts of our great friend and ally, President Donald Trump, we have reached this critical turning point“, Netanyahu added, thanking the US president “for his leadership, partnership and unwavering commitment to the security of Israel“.
