US President Donald Trump arrived on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the “Ben Gurion“ airport near Tel Aviv, where he was welcomed by Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Associated Press reported, reports News.bg.
“This is a great day. Maybe your best day ever“, Trump said as he walked down the red carpet, according to a video released by Netanyahu's office. “This is history“, the Israeli prime minister replied.
According to the words of the Israeli ambassador to Washington, Yechiel Leiter, Trump told him at the airport: “You know your son is looking down and smiling, right?“
“My heart broke“, the diplomat later wrote in X. His son, Major Moshe Yedidiya Leiter, was killed in 2023 in fighting in the Gaza Strip.
The US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, also congratulated Netanyahu on the runway, noting that “his steadfast leadership against so much opposition was key to ending the war and freeing the hostages“.
