Russia is following with concern reports of clashes on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and has called on Kabul and Islamabad to show restraint, the Russian Foreign Ministry said, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
"According to incoming information, the situation is stabilizing. We welcome this process", the statement added.
Moscow was concerned by reports of another escalation of the situation in the Afghan-Pakistani border area on October 10-11, TASS reports. "Kabul and Islamabad comment differently on the nature of the clashes and the reasons for the escalation", the Russian diplomatic service indicates.
"At the moment, according to incoming information, the situation is stabilizing. We welcome this process. "We call on Kabul and Islamabad to exercise patience and restraint, resolve any disagreements through political and diplomatic means," the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.
Moscow is counting on the resumption of constructive dialogue between Afghanistan and Pakistan, including on issues of counterterrorism and regional security, TASS added.
