Greek authorities have detained two men suspected of creating and administering illegal online groups that disseminated information about the location of police patrols on the roads. The news was reported by the newspaper “Kathimerini“, reports News.bg.
The arrested are 29 and 55 years old. They are believed to be administrators of three groups on an online platform in which more than 200,000 users participated. These groups posted real-time information about police presence on highways around Athens, Thessaloniki and the island of Crete.
According to police data, the younger of the detainees managed all three groups, while the 55-year-old was the administrator of the largest of them, uniting approximately 173,000 members.
Following the arrests, the online communities in question were removed from the internet. The two suspects have now been handed over to the prosecutor's office.
