A strong explosion shook a residential building in Bucharest, there are victims

A third victim of the strong explosion in the Romanian capital Bucharest this morning was found by the search and rescue teams of the Bucharest-Ilfov Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISUBIF), the Agerpres agency reported, citing the head of the Emergency Situations Department, Raed Arafat, BTA reported.

The explosion occurred this morning in an eight-story residential building in Sector 5 of Bucharest, affecting apartments between the first and fifth floors, as well as another building nearby.

Arafat added that there was a risk of the building where the explosion occurred collapsing, and urged citizens not to try to enter the building or the affected area. zone.

According to Agerpress, the number of injured in the incident has already reached 17, with two of them in serious condition. Thirteen of them were transported to various emergency departments in Bucharest.

According to the Minister of Health of Romania, Alexandru Rogobete, three of the injured have severe burns.

After the explosion, students and teachers from a high school located near the explosion site were evacuated. According to information from the School Inspectorate of the Bucharest Municipality, quoted by Agerpress, there are students who were "slightly injured" and who received medical care, after which they were collected by their parents.

Bucharest residents received a warning through the "Ro-Alert" system (RO-ALERT) to avoid movement in the area and follow the recommendations of the authorities.

The situation is currently being monitored in real time, with authorities surveying the area with a drone in order to locate people injured by the explosion and document the incident from the air.

Meanwhile, a government spokesman reported that Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bologian is in constant contact with the head of the Department of Emergency Situations Raed Arafat and Romania's Minister of Health Alexandru Rogobete.
