Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump are scheduled to hold a new meeting soon - this time in Hungary. However, the trip for the Russian president carries great risks, writes the German publication Focus.de.

Poland has no particular interest in allowing Putin to fly over its territory due to Russian provocations in its airspace. It is clear that Putin cannot fly over Ukraine either.

Putin will almost certainly fly south first, heading towards Central Europe via Turkey. This opens up two possible corridors for him.

On the one hand, Putin's plane could fly to Budapest via Bulgaria and Romania. However, it is not yet clear whether Sofia and Bucharest would agree to this.

Putin could fly to Budapest via Serbia, which is a friendly country. To do this, he would have to fly over Greece and then over Montenegro. Whether the government in Podgorica would agree to this is also not yet clear. The trip will certainly not be easy for Putin.

If there are problems with the Il-96 plane in which the Russian president is traveling, it could be dangerous for Putin. In the event of an emergency landing, countries that adhere to the International Criminal Court treaty must arrest him. There is an arrest warrant for Putin, who has been waging a full-scale war against Ukraine since 2022.
