Ukraine is preparing a contract to purchase 25 American Patriot air defense systems, President Volodymyr Zelensky said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
The agency notes that the acquisition of these systems would allow Kiev to significantly strengthen its ability to repel Russian air attacks.
Zelensky told journalists yesterday that the Patriot systems would be delivered every year for several years. Ukraine will want these systems delivered to it with priority over other European countries, he noted.
Zelensky also said he would be willing to visit Budapest, where Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump are expected to meet, if a proposal for a trilateral meeting or "shuttle diplomacy" through an intermediary was made.
