Ukraine is actively working with the US to obtain the required number of Patriot air defense systems, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his night video address, defining the systems as one of the key security guarantees for the country, Ukrinform reported, quoted by BTA.
"Today (Monday - ed. note) the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmygal also reported, primarily on the results of the meeting (of the group) "Ramstein" and new agreements with partners," Zelensky said. He noted that additional support packages will be announced soon.
"Separately – and very specifically – "We are working with the United States to ensure that Ukraine can still receive the required number of Patriot systems. This is not an easy task, but it is one of the guarantees of security for Ukraine - and it will work in the long term," Zelensky stressed.
He recalled that during his visit to Washington he had held talks with American defense companies that produce both Patriot systems and other weapons of key importance to Ukraine.
Earlier, the president said that Ukraine and the United States were preparing a contract for the supply of 25 Patriot systems.
