A survey by the Ipsos sociological agency for the program “Observer“ on Antena 1 TV revealed that only three percent of Romanians trust politicians. At the same time, when asked “Who was the best president of Romania?”, the answer “Nobody” collected 38 percent, and according to 27 percent of respondents, it was the late communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, the information site Hotnews reports, BTA reported.
The results of the survey were presented during an interview with the current head of state, Nikusor Dan, Hotnews specifies.
The Ipsos survey shows very low trust in politicians – only 3 percent, while another 82 percent said they did not trust them.
“The numbers are the result of many years of politics, conducted in such a way that people saw that many entered politics to solve personal problems“, commented President Nikushor Dan, quoted by Hotnews.
Only 6 percent of those surveyed said they trust the current government, while another 76 percent do not trust the new cabinet. According to the president, this result is due to the fact that the population was first affected by the government's austerity measures, and only then high-ranking state representatives.
When asked “Do you trust the Prime Minister?“ 74 percent answered “No“, and only 17 percent gave a positive answer, Hotnews points out.
According to Nikusor Dan, this percentage may change when the positive results of the government are manifested. He gave the example of the reduction in tax fraud, indicating that its reduction by 20 percent in one year would be a result that would increase trust among the population.
With regard to the current president, the results of the survey indicate that 65 percent do not trust him, and 15 percent trust him, Hotnews notes.
“I look at those 30 percent who are neither “Yes“ nor “No“; these are people who are still waiting to see the president's results on the problems they face. I think the result is correct. Things have been going in a certain direction for a long time, and change takes time,“ commented the current head of state.
When asked “Who was the best president of Romania“, the answers are as follows: 38 percent say “Nobody“; 27 percent – Nicolae Ceausescu; 19 percent – Traian Basescu; 8 percent – Emil Constantinescu; 4 percent – Klaus Iohannis and 3 percent – Ion Iliescu.
Current President Nikusor Dan commented on this result as follows: “I think that people saw during the Nicolae Ceausescu period a plan for the country that they did not see during the entire transition period“.
Against the backdrop of these results, Nikusor Dan believes that Romania needs to develop an economic vision in which to define the areas it wants to develop in the next 10-15 years.
