The US Senate failed for the 12th time to pass a bill to end the US government shutdown, C-SPAN reported.
The Republican bill to continue funding the government again failed to secure the necessary 60 votes for approval. As a result, U.S. government agencies remain closed.
The current U.S. government shutdown is the second longest in the country's history, House Speaker Mike Johnson announced Wednesday.
The longest shutdown, lasting 35 days, occurred during Donald Trump's first term as president.
