US President Donald Trump said that Israel would lose “all support“ from Washington if it tries to proceed with annexing the West Bank, the Times of Israel reports, BTA reports.

In an interview with Time magazine on October 15, Trump commented on his position regarding members of the Israeli coalition who are pushing for annexation of all or parts of the West Bank:

“It's not going to happen. It's not going to happen because I gave my word to the Arab countries. Israel will lose all support from the United States if that happens.“

He added that he had persuaded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the war against Hamas in Gaza, which otherwise could have dragged on for years:

“I told Bibi, “You can't fight the world. You can fight individual battles, but the world is against you. And Israel is a very small place compared to the world.” You know, I stopped it because the war was just going to continue, and everyone rallied when I did.“

Trump also commented on the failed strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar, which he described as “a mistake” and “terrible“, but he said the incident created momentum for the ceasefire deal:

“When he made that tactical mistake, it confused everyone, but it actually brought us together and made everyone do what they needed to do.“
