Trump angered by ad, suspends trade talks with Canada

Ottawa paid for footage in which Ronald Reagan spoke negatively about tariffs, US president says

US President Donald Trump said that Washington suspended trade talks with Ottawa because Canadian officials paid for an ad criticizing tariffs.

The American leader wrote on the social media platform Truth Social that in the ad, the 40th US President Ronald Reagan “makes negative comments about tariffs“.

“They did this solely to influence the decision of the US Supreme Court and other courts“, Trump added.

“Tariffs are critical to US national security and the American economy. Because of these malicious actions, all trade talks with Canada have now been terminated“, the head of the Washington administration stressed.
