French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that the "coalition of the willing" has developed a plan to deploy multinational peacekeeping forces in Ukraine after the cessation of hostilities, the BBC reported.

The mission's goal is to support the country's security and the restoration of its armed forces, he announced in a video link from Paris during the coalition's meeting in London, BTA reports.

According to Macron, the future forces will participate in securing Ukraine's air and sea space and will support its defense capacity. The initiative will be implemented with the participation of 25 countries, the French president specified.

Macron stressed the need for Europe to continue to increase its military assistance to Kiev.

"We must continue to increase our military support for Ukraine - air defense systems, long-range weapons, drones and anti-drone systems," the French president said.

The French leader also announced that new missiles would be delivered to Ukraine, and additional training for the Ukrainian military would begin in the coming weeks. According to him, these measures are part of a broader strategy to ensure the country's long-term security after the war.

Macron also pointed out that the new, 19th package of sanctions by the European Union is aimed at limiting Moscow's ability to finance its military campaign.

The Kremlin has repeatedly stated that the deployment of foreign peacekeeping forces in Ukraine would constitute an escalation.
