Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino said that the country's armed forces will prevent the installation of a government subordinate to the United States in Caracas, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.
Padrino accused Washington of wanting to remove President Nicolas Maduro from power with the support of the opposition.
"Interpret it as you wish. The armed forces will not allow a government here that is subordinate to the interests of the United States," Padrino told Venezuelan public television.
"Never again slaves! We are a free country!", added the defense minister.
Earlier, the US announced that it was sending the aircraft carrier strike group of the "Gerald Ford" to South America, amid tensions with Venezuela.
