The director of the US National Economic Council (NEC) Kevin Hassett told Fox News on Friday that the shutdown could "reduce GDP by 0.1% every week" if it continues.
Speaking about September inflation, he said it was an "excellent report", adding that markets were "reacting adequately to the really good news".
On the subject of trade negotiations between the US and Canada, Hassett said that US President Donald Trump was "very disappointed".
"The fact is that the negotiations with the Canadians were not very collegial. "They are not doing well," he commented.
