Trump meets Qatari emir and prime minister aboard Air Force One

The plane will stop for refueling in the Arab country on its way to Malaysia

US President Donald Trump will meet today with Qatari emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, BTA reported.

The meeting will take place aboard the government plane "Air Force One", which will stop for refueling in Qatar on its way to Malaysia - the first stop of President Trump's tour of Asia, a White House spokesman said today, quoted by Reuters.

The meeting will discuss the fragile ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is visiting Israel in an attempt to strengthen the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip that has been in effect since October 10, will join the discussions in Qatar and then President Trump's Asian tour, the White House spokesman added.

Qatar is a key mediator in efforts to establish a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas" based on a plan presented by Donald Trump to end the war that began two years ago, Agence France-Presse notes.

Trump is expected to arrive tomorrow in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur to participate in the 47th summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
