Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Koszyniak-Kamisz said that for the second day in a row, Polish fighter jets had intercepted a Russian reconnaissance plane over the Baltic Sea, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

The Polish army said yesterday that its fighter jets had intercepted a Russian military plane that was carrying out a reconnaissance mission in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The Russian plane had not filed a flight plan and its transponder had been turned off.

"MiG-29 fighter jets intercepted a Russian reconnaissance plane over the Baltic Sea today," Koszyniak-Kamisz said, adding that the incident was identical to yesterday's. The minister did not provide further details.

NATO's eastern flank has been monitoring its airspace for violations since September, when three Russian military aircraft illegally entered Estonian airspace and remained there for 12 minutes. This came just over a week after more than 20 Russian drones violated Polish airspace on the night of September 9-10.
