Taxi drivers in Athens are planning a 48-hour strike for Wednesday and Thursday, citing a series of outstanding demands, the Attica Taxi Drivers Union (SATA) announced, quoted by the newspaper “Kathimerini“, BTA reported.

The drivers are calling for free access to bus lanes and for the government to extend the deadline for requiring all newly registered taxis in Athens and Thessaloniki to be fully electric. The current deadline is until January 1, 2026, and taxi operators want it extended to 2035.

They are also demanding that the tax-free income threshold for taxi drivers be set at 12,000 euros per year.
