US President Donald Trump has urged Jews in New York to vote against Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani in today's local elections in the city, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.
"Any Jew who votes for Zohran Mamdani (...) is a stupid person!", Trump wrote on his social platform "Truth Social", claiming that the favorite in the mayoral race "hates Jews".
Mamdani, known for his support for the Palestinian cause, has drawn the disapproval of part of the Jewish community for his positions on Israel and the war in the Gaza Strip.
In recent months, the candidate has tried to ease tensions by publicly presents himself as a staunch opponent of anti-Semitism, AFP notes.
