114 Filipinos killed in Typhoon Kalmaegi, 127 missing VIDEO

The hurricane moved away from the western province of Palawan in the South China Sea before noon on Wednesday and headed towards Vietnam

Philippine officials said that the death toll from widespread flooding and devastation caused by Typhoon "Kalmaegi" in the central part of the country, has risen to at least 114.

Another 127 are reported missing, many of them in a hard-hit province still recovering from a deadly earthquake, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.

Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV, deputy administrator of the Office of Civil Defense, said most of the deaths were recorded in the central province of Cebu, which was swept away by "Kalmaegi" on Tuesday, causing flash floods and overflowing rivers and other waterways.

"Kalmaegi" moved away from the western province of Palawan in the South China Sea before noon on Wednesday and was heading towards Vietnam.
