Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova reacted sharply to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte's statements regarding Moscow's cooperation with China, North Korea and Iran, emphasizing that Rutte ignored the example of the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, reports Focus.

In her Telegram channel, Zakharova quoted Rutte's words: “Russia is not alone in its attempts to undermine global rules. As you know, it cooperates with China, North Korea, Iran and others.“ However, she asked which “global rules“ the Secretary General is referring to.

“I don't remember a NATO member state terminating its cooperation with China, as Rutte claims. The US-China meeting took place recently, but I didn't hear any criticism of the US president“, she noted.

Zakharova added that Russia, China and the majority of the global community have always declared their commitment to international law. She stressed that NATO has repeatedly violated this law through aggressive actions and illegitimate coalitions, such as the invasion of Iraq under false pretext and the bombing of Yugoslavia.
