Ukrainian forces are stepping up offensives against Russian troops around the eastern town of Dobropolye to ease pressure on the strategic hub of Pokrovsk, Ukrainian Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Oleksandr Syrsky said on Monday, as quoted by "Reuters".
In a statement published by the General Staff, Syrsky said Ukrainian units were actively fighting to control logistics lines and were seeking to push Russian units out of city buildings they were using as fortified positions. "Our efforts are aimed at stabilizing the front and capturing key transport arteries," Sirsky points out.
Pokrovsk remains one of the most tense areas on the eastern front after Russian forces stepped up artillery and drone attacks in recent weeks. According to Ukrainian military sources, the offensive near Dobropolye is aimed at diverting Russian reserves and preventing Moscow from encircling the city.
