The European Union's foreign policy chief, Kaia Kalas, said on Monday that the corruption scandal in Ukraine was "extremely unfortunate" and it was important for Kiev to deal with it, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called earlier today for the removal of two ministers from their posts today, amid an investigation into an alleged $100 million corruption scheme that has fueled renewed public discontent against the country's government.

„They are acting very decisively. There is no place for corruption, especially now. "I mean, this is literally the money of the people who have to go to the front lines," Kallas said on the sidelines of the G7 foreign ministers' meeting in Canada.

“I think it is very important that they deal with this very quickly and take this issue very seriously,” she added.

The G7 foreign ministers' meeting also includes Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga. The meeting of diplomats began yesterday and continued today, taking place in Niagara Falls, on the Canada-US border.
