Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that strengthens criminal liability for perpetrators of sabotage, the BBC reports, News.bg reports.

With the new amendments, persons aged 14 and older, including boys and girls, can be held criminally liable for crimes related to sabotage activities.

The law effectively equates sabotage with terrorist acts in Russian law. The following measures are provided for both categories of crimes: criminal prosecution from the age of 14, exclusion of suspended sentences, impossibility of imposing a sentence below the minimum threshold, and parole no earlier than 75% of the sentence has been served.
