Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev mocked French President Emmanuel Macron after the news that Ukraine has ordered 100 French Rafale fighter jets manufactured by Dassault Aviation, reports News.bg.
„What nonsense will European fools like Mikron and company say when the corrupt drug addict in Kiev is indicted? ‚We knew nothing‘ or ‚We should have helped the poor Ukrainians‘ and other such nonsense“, Medvedev wrote in X.
He added: „Maybe they were also involved in the corruption with the Rafale fighter jets. What do you say, people of France?“
Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a broad declaration on defense cooperation in Paris that Kiev described as “historic“. According to Zelensky, the country plans to purchase 100 Rafale F4 fighter jets and eight SAMP/T air defense systems, each with six launchers.
France has already promised additional Mirage fighters and new Aster 30 missiles for Ukraine's air defenses. In June 2024, Macron announced that he would deliver upgraded Mirage 2000-5s and provide pilot training programs.
French media reported that the deal included three multi-role Mirage 2000-5s armed with SCALP cruise missiles and AASM bombs.
The deals come at a critical time for Kiev, which is seeking to bolster its air defenses ahead of winter and amid increased Russian attacks on infrastructure.
