During the talks in Geneva, European countries have made a proposal to return Russian President Vladimir Putin to the G8, The Telegraph reports, quoted by Focus.
The publication specifies that this could happen within the framework of a potential peace agreement regarding Ukraine. The participants in the negotiations share that one of the points in the proposed package is the restoration of Russia's presence in the G8. It should be noted that Russia was excluded from this formula in 2017 after the annexation of Crimea.
The article notes that this proposal is part of a broader list of concessions drawn up by European leaders in response to the US-Russian plan for settling the war in Ukraine, which was announced this week.
It should be noted that the document, on which European leaders and representatives of the UK worked, also mentions the possibility of “gradual reintegration of Russia into the world economy“. In particular, the country's return to the G8 is listed as one of the possible elements of this process.
