The President of the Romanian Senate, Mircea Abrudyan, said today at the fourth parliamentary summit of the International Crimea Platform in Stockholm that Romania continues to support Ukraine's territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, Agerpres reported, BTA reported.

"Russia's aggressive war is a gross violation of international law, as well as an attack on democracy and human rights. The world must strengthen its support for Ukraine's struggle to defend its sovereignty and restore its territorial integrity. "From the very beginning, Romania has condemned in the strongest terms the illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the current illegal, unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression by the Russian Federation," Abrudyan stressed.

"We remain fully committed to supporting Ukraine for as long as necessary and support Ukraine's path towards full membership in the EU and NATO. Given the challenges we face today, decisive and coordinated action is of utmost importance. We must act in this way", stressed the speaker of the upper house of the Romanian Parliament.

He recalled that on November 10, 2025, the Romanian Senate adopted a draft law that criminalizes the violation or evasion of international sanctions against Russia, through which "those who support individuals and companies on the sanctions list will no longer get away with just a fine, but will be held criminally liable and risk imprisonment".

"Russia's war has caused deep suffering to the people of Ukraine. Millions of families have lost their homes, relatives or their sense of security. Women, children and the elderly have paid the heaviest price. These repercussions go beyond the borders of Ukraine and affect the entire region. They also affect Romania. You cannot build regional security if the rules are ignored. No country can feel safe in such conditions. Romania stands by Ukraine. We have offered protection to those fleeing the war. We have offered humanitarian aid, financial support and shelter. We continue to support the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. This includes Crimea. Glory to Ukraine!", the Romanian official also said.
