"Illegal immigrants pose the greatest threat to the United States," President Donald Trump said in an address to the nation after the shooting near the White House in Washington, which seriously injured two National Guard soldiers.

„This attack highlights the fundamental national security threat facing our nation. The previous administration allowed 20 million unverified and unknown foreigners to enter our country,“ he said.

In his words, "no country should be exposed to such a risk to its very existence".

“The Department of Homeland Security is confident that the detained suspect is a foreign national who arrived in our country from Afghanistan, hell on earth. He was brought in by the Biden administration in September 2021 on those same infamous flights that everyone was talking about,” the American leader emphasized.

The US president also said that authorities should check every foreign national who arrived in the United States from Afghanistan during Biden’s time, and “those who do not belong in the country” should be expelled;

“We will not tolerate attacks on law and order by people who should not even be in the United States. The perpetrator will face the maximum punishment possible,” Trump declared.

The Pentagon mobilized 500 additional National Guard soldiers in the capital.
