Firefighters from a fire department near the western German city of Darmstadt had to cut open a washing machine to rescue an 8-year-old girl who got stuck inside while playing, an official said today, quoted by DPA, BTA reported.
“While playing hide-and-seek, she was looking for a better hiding place“, municipal fire inspector Benedict Fröhlich told DPA.
The girl got into the drum of the washing machine and got stuck, prompting her parents to call the fire department. Rescuers initially tried to use lubricant and disassemble the machine to free the girl before cutting the drum with an electric saw. They managed to extract the child unharmed.
