The administration of US President Donald Trump is "very optimistic" about the possibility of reaching an agreement with Ukraine. This was announced by White House spokeswoman Carolyn Leavitt, quoted by AFP correspondent in Washington Danny Kemp, reports Focus.

According to her, the US and Ukrainian delegations held constructive talks over the past weekend, which strengthens hopes for progress. Leavitt stressed that both the president and the US negotiating team have made serious efforts to move the process forward.

“The negotiations with the Ukrainian side were very good, and special envoy Steve Witkoff is already on his way to Russia,“ she specified. At the same time, the White House is expressing its expectation for a quick and final end to the war.

Despite optimistic statements, no real progress has been reported since the meetings between the American and Ukrainian delegations in Florida on the topic of territorial concessions.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky also indicated that the territorial issue was the most complex element of the talks with the United States. Discussions on this topic alone lasted about six and a half hours.
