“Important day for the world: the team that prepared President [US Donald] Trump's Gaza peace agreement will be in Moscow to push through Trump's peace program in Ukraine“, Dmitriev said, quoted by the TASS agency.
US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will visit Moscow today for further talks on ending the war in Ukraine, DPA reported, BTA reported. US President Donald Trump confirmed Witkoff's visit earlier, without providing further details.
The visit was preceded by a meeting in Florida on Sunday between US officials and a Ukrainian delegation. Progress was reported at the meeting, but it was stressed that significant work still needs to be done.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Witkoff would meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin this afternoon. The talks will focus on the US plan to end the war, which has been going on for more than three and a half years. The plan has been criticized by many observers as favoring Russia.
EU member states and Ukraine have revised parts of the US plan together with US representatives, although several points remain in dispute, DPA noted.
