Volodymyr Zelensky: Pace of peace talks and Donald Trump's interest inspire optimism

The Irish government announced an additional 100 million euros in aid for Ukraine, bringing the total amount of Irish support for the year to 200 million euros

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that the peace talks inspire him with optimism due to the pace of the negotiation process and the interest of the United States in finding a solution to the conflict with Russia, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

"Optimism is evident in my words due to the acceleration of the pace of the negotiations. It also comes from the American side, from the interest of the United States in the negotiation process. "At the moment, America is not backing down from any diplomatic means of dialogue, and that is good," Zelensky said at an event during his visit to the Irish capital Dublin.

Ukraine highly appreciates Ireland's generosity, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said during his visit to Dublin, quoted by PA Media and DPA.

The Irish government has announced an additional 100 million euros in aid for Ukraine, bringing the total amount of Irish support for the year to 200 million euros.

The funds are part of a new partnership between Ireland and Ukraine, which Zelensky and Irish Prime Minister Michail Martin are to sign later today. The document is the next step in the development of the agreement signed last year in Kiev.

The roadmap "Ukraine-Ireland Partnership 2030" sets out Ireland's immediate commitments to Ukraine, including €25 million to restore and protect Ukraine's energy infrastructure, as well as a training programme and other activities related to the country's EU integration.

Zelensky began his visit to Dublin with a meeting with Ireland's newly elected President Catherine Connolly.

"I express my sincere gratitude on behalf of the Ukrainian people for Ireland's unwavering support in our fight against Russian aggression," he noted. "We deeply appreciate Ireland's hospitality, which has provided temporary shelter to displaced Ukrainians. Ukraine highly values its friendship with Ireland and is determined to deepen our cooperation for the sake of a just and lasting peace."
