Three police officers from the US city of Omaha, Nebraska, were injured during a shootout with a pursued suspect at a gas station, the Associated Press reported. The gunman himself, suspected of shooting a man, was killed, BTA reports.
According to Police Chief Todd Schmadderer, the suspect, aged between 20 and 30, had previously shot a 61-year-old man in the chest several times at a grocery store.
Officers captured the license plate number of the shooter's car through surveillance cameras and tracked him to the gas station where the shooting took place.
“It was a very dangerous day for the citizens of Omaha,“ Schmadderer said.
The three officers are out of danger, but the man shot at the store remains in critical condition, police added.
