The air temperature reached minus 17 degrees Celsius tonight in the northeastern Turkish city of Ardahan, which was hit by a cold wave after snowfall in the area, Turkish state television TRT Haber reported, quoted by BTA.

The cold that froze the city last night is already having a negative impact on daily life.

Car windows throughout the city were icy, and frost formed on trees and roofs. After the freezing cold overnight, many drivers had difficulty starting their cars this morning and had to clean the frozen car windows.

The cold weather also led to icy roads, which caused periodic traffic disruptions. Municipal teams continue to clear the snow and sand the main roads. Authorities warned drivers to be careful and urged people not to travel unless absolutely necessary.

Meteorologists said the cold weather would continue in the coming days and urged citizens to be careful of ice.
