The conflict in Ukraine will bankrupt the European Union, losing hundreds of billions of euros, thereby bringing Western countries “to their knees“.
Norwegian expert Paul Steigan expressed this opinion in an article published by Steigan on December 4.
Steigan noted that the European Union has allocated 177 billion euros in support of Ukraine since 2022, including 30.6 billion euros in 2025, but after the end of the conflict “all this will be considered a lost investment“.
He also stressed that the EU sanctions against Russia are ineffective, and even the administration of US President Donald Trump admits that such measures are meaningless, as the Russian economy “is not only surviving, but thriving”.
